Real Kent installations

Kent homes do not all have the same roof.

Homes in Thanet, Maidstone and the Medway towns each bring different roofs, different shading and different electricity use, so no two systems below are the same. These are Kent homes we've fitted, with the first-year benefit estimated for each one when it went in.

Two of these homes have 10 solar panels each, one with an 11.52kWh battery and one with 3.3kWh. The design follows the household, not a fixed package.

Figures are the estimated first-year benefit calculated for each customer's own system at the time of installation, based on MCS-standard assessment methodology. They are estimates, not guarantees, so actual savings vary with household usage, weather and electricity prices.

Designed around the whole home

The system should fit what your home will use next, not only what it uses today.

If an EV, a heat pump or a home office is likely to push your electricity use up, tell us before the system is designed. It can change the useful panel array and battery size, and it is far easier to plan for now than to work around later.

Solar first

Make your own electricity by day and buy less from the grid, with the array laid out for your roof and your household instead of a stock package.

Home battery storage unit

Battery where it adds value

The biggest battery is not automatically the best one. We size storage around when your household actually uses power, so you only pay for capacity you will use.

Electric car charging at home

Smart EV charging, if it fits

A home charger can sit in the same plan and draw on your own solar when it is available, so the car becomes part of the system instead of a separate purchase.

How the saving works

Where the saving actually comes from.

Anything the roof produces is used by the house first. Each unit consumed straight from the panels is one your supplier never bills you for.

Use itThe more solar electricity your home uses directly, the less it needs to buy at the retail rate.
Store itA battery can move some daytime generation into the evening, when many homes use the most.
Export itEligible surplus can potentially earn an export payment through a Smart Export Guarantee tariff.

Payment options

Keep cash available for other priorities.

Qualifying finance can spread the system cost while the panels start generating. Your estimate should show the total cost of credit and the projected energy benefit side by side, so you can compare the real numbers.

Pay outright

Buy the system in one go and own it from day one.

Monthly payments

Spread the cost with fixed repayments on qualifying finance. Longer terms lower the monthly figure but raise the total cost of credit.

No-upfront and 0% routes

Some households can start with nothing upfront, and short 0% deals occasionally appear on selected products. Eligibility varies from person to person.

See whether we're already installing near you.

When installs cluster in a local area, an offer may sometimes apply. Enter your postcode with your estimate request and we will tell you whether one is live.

Finance is subject to status, affordability and lender approval. The installation team behind Kent Solar acts as a credit broker, not a lender. Asking about payment options is not a finance application and won't affect your credit file.

What happens next

What happens when you ask.

Tell us about your home

Tell us about the house, how much electricity it uses and anything electric you may add soon, such as a car or heat pump.

We check suitability

We judge whether the property looks promising enough to survey, and may get in touch to fill in anything missing.

You see the numbers

A surveyor inspects the roof, any shading and the wiring on site. Your proposal then lists the system size, annual output, battery choices, warranty cover and payment routes.

You decide

You owe nothing for asking. Should you go ahead, a normal house takes a day or two to fit.

Behind the estimate

What sits behind the estimate.

Kent Solar is a regional route into an experienced installation team that has completed more than 10,000 installations. The accreditations below are held by that installation team.

MCS

The certification most export tariffs and grants rely on for small renewable installs.

TrustMark

A quality scheme with government backing for tradespeople working on homes.

HIES

Protection for customers, with deposit and workmanship safeguards where the scheme terms allow.

EPVS

An independent review of the performance estimates behind qualifying proposals.

Warranties & guarantees Manufacturers cover the product and its performance, and workmanship is covered too. The exact terms are set out in your proposal.

We can fit Eurener panels alongside Fox ESS, Duracell or Growatt batteries and inverters, and the final choice follows your roof and your household.

Planning permission in the Kent Downs

Ordinary home installations are usually permitted development. Part of the county lies inside the Kent Downs National Landscape, where appearance is policed more tightly, so permission may be needed where it would not be elsewhere. Every property is checked before work is planned, so you know where you stand.

Coverage

Installing across Kent.

From the Medway towns and Thanet to Canterbury, Maidstone, Ashford, Tunbridge Wells and Dover. Add your postcode to the estimate form and we'll confirm we cover it.

Common questions

Questions Kent homeowners ask first.

Can the system be sized for a future EV or heat pump?

Yes, and it helps to say so early. Expected demand from a car or heat pump can be built into the panel layout and battery size, instead of designing only for today's usage, and room can be left for a battery or charger later.

Do coastal Kent homes need different installation considerations?

Properties near the Thanet, Dover or Thames Estuary shores catch more wind and salt, so the survey looks closely at mounting, fixings and equipment. That shapes the specification without ruling solar out.

Can solar work on older or conservation-area properties?

Frequently not a problem. Many older Kent homes take solar, though a conservation area, a listed building or a location within the Kent Downs National Landscape may add planning steps, and a listed building needs consent in every case. We raise this early.
